Being in the hills when blanketed with snow is a wonderful experience!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Does This Guided Walk Involve?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Journeys in the glens and summits of munros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Classic days in the north east include Lochnagar, Mayar and Driesh in Glen Clova, Glas Maol and its adjoining high Munros in Glenshee. However there are plenty more great hills in the Cairngorms National Park offering great days out and views. If you are unsure on what may be suitable for your experience level, then just get in touch and I\u2019d be happy to help. We can lead you on any objective you have in mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would like, you can learn some skills whilst we are out such as;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigation skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tips on using mountaineering boots, crampons and ice axe on steep snow slopes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Introduction to avalanche avoidance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who Is It For?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is ideal for anyone new to winter walking through to experienced winter hillwalkers. Experience of hillwalking in summer would be useful as is a reasonable fitness level. However all private bookings are tailored to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under 18s may be welcome, but please get in touch first and they must be accompanied by a parent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Where Is It?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our base is Aberdeen with great access to the Angus Munros and the southern Cairngorms National Park. However we offer hill walks across Scotland from Glencoe, Ben Nevis, Skye, to the Cairngorms. If you have a walk in mind, or are looking for ideas of what may be possible, get in touch!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Kit Do I Need?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Good waterproof jacket and trousers, ie Goretex<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>B2-B3 style boots (available for hire at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiso.com\/hire\">Tiso Aberdeen<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gaiters \u2013 Not essential but extremely useful in deep or wet snow conditions, and also save your trousers from holes whilst learning to use crampons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ice axe and Crampons \u2013 Provided by Cove Climbing. You may use your own.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Warm hat<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Windproof gloves plus spares x 2 minimum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Warm winter walking socks recommended<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lots of warm layers, ie 2 base layer and 2 fleeces<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2018Belay\u2019 type jacket. ie a warm jacket that can be worn over your waterproof.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Goggles, double clear lens recommended. This is not for the sun, but for snow drifting in the wind.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Head torch, plus spare batteries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Balaclava and\/or neck gaiter (buff)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lunch &amp; warm drink<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rucksack 30-40 litre<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why Choose Cove Climbing?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Liam has been walking in the hills in Scotland for over ten years and has been qualified and leading Winter walks for over four years.
