Green Craig Bouldering Guide

Beth Moore climbing Salacia

Green craig bouldering is a new venue for bouldering on the north coast of Aberdeen. It is siutated inbetween Collieston and Whinnyford, where there is also the new bouldering venues of Green Craig and Veshels. Like the other venues nearby, this is a very quite part of the coast, and it’s unlikely you will see anybody else around. Theres are around 30 problems of various grades.

Some of the climbs here are very good, dare I say it – some of the best on the coast on the barrel wall area. Athena f5, Nemesis f7a, The Odyssey f7a/+ and Kronos f6a, we though were stand out problems. Here the rock is impecable and there are some striking lines. The top outs are a little high but generally flat. The barrel wall area is tidal, from around 3 hours either side of high tide.

The Streamline boulder provides some harder options and the passage a good warm up. Both of these are non tidal.

These were developed by Liam Malone and Beth Moore.
